Jackson

Of all the rescues we have been involved with, this was one of the most disturbing. We received a call from a rescue friend that found a kitten wandering around in the parking lot of an old Winn-Dixie. Anita went to pick him up and took him straight to the vet. She opened the carrier and he walked out purring and acting like a perfectly normal and loving kitten except his eyeball was hanging out of the socket. It was very difficult to even look at. The vet advised that it would need to be removed.
It is so sad to think of what happened to him in that parking lot but his prayers were answered. We had just met a wonderful lady at PetCo who said she would be willing to be a foster home. We called to see if she would take this little kitty that needed extra care. Yes, she would be happy to. We immediately scheduled his surgery and sent out a plea to for support since we had no idea how we were going to pay for the surgery. Again our prayers were answered and the support from animal lovers and friends was overwhelming. We can't thank everyone enough.
Jackson's surgery was a success, he pulled through with no problems and the vet said he will adjust just fine and should have a very normal happy life. Jackson was now missing an eye, but the thing he was really missing was a forever home where he would be safe and loved. That was something that was very easy to fill, he is such a special, loving kitty that his foster mom had already decided that she was completely in love with him since the first day she met him. The foster home has decided to adopt Jackson and he is now the happiest kitty in the world because he is also in love with them. Below are pictures of Jackson after his surgery.
