  Spay The Strays, Inc.
Our primary objective is to reduce the feral cat population. Spay The Strays, Inc. offers an effective and humane alternative to reducing the feral cat population. This program is called TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN (TNR). With the TNR Program, we will be able to reduce and manage feral cat colonies more effectively. Stray and abandoned cats will also be sterilized with many of them being successfully reintroduced to humans and eventually adopted into loving, responsible homes. We know that SPAYING and NEUTERING in the ONLY humane way to stop the breeding and overpopulation.

Thousands of people are helping feral cats, and you can TOO!! Call if you can participate and make a difference in your own neighborhood.

Facts about feral cats and feline overpopulation

  • Feral cats are cats who grew up without human socialization; or stray cats who have lived outside long enough to revert to the wild.
  • Feral cats usually cannot be tamed and are most content living outside. They often live in family groups called colonies.
  • Stray cats are cats who have been lost or abandoned, and have joined a feral colony but are not fully wild. Stray cats can usually be re-homed.
  • It is estimated that there are tens of millions of stray and feral cats in North America.
  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the non-lethal population control plan in which entire colonies are humanely and painlessly trapped, vaccinated, eartipped and spayed/neutered by veterinarians.
  • Kittens and cats who are tame enough are spayed/neutered and placed into loving homes. Feral cats are returned to their colonies to live out their lives under the dedicated supervision of volunteer caregivers.
  • TNR WORKS!! The cat population is gradually reduced. Behaviors such as the yowling of females or the spraying of toms are virtually eliminated. The cats live healthy, safe and peaceful lives in their colonies.
